My new boyfriend, Breville
Meet my new boyfriend, Breville. It was love at first sight. He makes me yummy beverages, is fairly quiet, and is easy to clean up after. Ok, yes, he is really the Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus and he's amazing!! I never thought I'd be so excited to get a juicer for Christmas!
So far, Breville is amazing and is perfect for my needs. It is super fast, heavy duty (I don't feel like I'm going to break it), and pretty easy to clean. The price tag is a bit steep...$149 on amazon or $149 at Bed, Bath & Beyond + 20% off with the coupons they send in the mail. But for me, it's worth the investment since I plan to use it a lot in the upcoming months. I could have settled for the $35 Black & Decker one, but I was afraid it would break in a week and then where would I be? Juiceless and alone...
So far I haven't experimented too much, but I have made three different juices so far so I could test out the machine. Two I liked, one not so much (but I know where I went wrong). Also, I've discovered just how deep my dislike for carrots goes. I really don't like carrots....like at all. So this has been a major challenge for me since so many of the recipes I find online include carrots. I know they are good for me, but so far I've really had to hide their taste by combining them with other strong flavored fruit/veggies. Maybe eventually I will grow to love them, but as for now, the love just isn't there.
Juice #1 - I kept it simple for my first trip around the block. Very refreshing and tasty!
2 apples
2 oranges
Juice #2 - This is the one I didn't like. Used too much ginger...it really overpowered everything, and not in a good way...
3 carrots
2 apples
1 celery
1 inch of ginger (definitely don't need that much ginger next time)
Juice #3 - I added the 2nd apple and orange to this one because the grapefruit made it really sour. The extra apple and orange helped sweeten the deal.
1 grapefruit
2 apples
1 orange
1 carrot
1 celery
